Who We Are
Meet the people who are revolutionizing the LiDAR industry with groundbreaking technologies and research
Experience Makes the Difference
Geoff Crowley, PhD
Founder | CEO
As an accomplished entrepreneur with a proven track record of technology development and commercialization success, Geoff brings his passion for applying scientific knowledge and engineering principles to solving real-world problems.
Geoff excels at forming and leading teams to develop and commercialize new technologies. These include specialized GPS-receivers, RF technologies, and several other miniaturized CubeSat instruments.
Under his leadership, Orion Space Solutions (the parent company of LiteWave Technologies, Inc.) has achieved the 90th percentile for commercialization of SBIR Phase-II products. Orion was selected as a Winner of the Colorado Companies to Watch Award in June 2016.
Geoff earned his PhD in Ionospheric Physics from the University of Leicester, UK and a B.S. in Physics from the University of Durham, UK. He has published over 150 scientific articles on his research into space physics and space weather, establishing his experience and credibility in these fields.
Jeffrey Thayer, PhD
Chief Technology Officer
Jeff is the inventor of our patented technique and has over two decades of LiDAR experience, including funding by NSF and NASA as Principal Investigator for his research.
Jeff is also a Professor of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado and serves as the Director for the Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research (CCAR).
He earned his PhD in Atmospheric and Space Sciences from the University of Michigan, and is the author of a multitude of published journals regarding remote sensing, Earth and space sciences.
Gerald Thompson
President
Gerald is responsible for daily operations including developing and executing the technology commercialization strategy for LiteWave Technologies. He brings insight into our customers' use cases to help them develop & maintain their competitive advantage.
In a prior organization, Gerald led the Innovation and Operations roles enabling revenue growth from $12 million to $106 million. This experience included extensive international work including strategic partnerships, production & manufacturing, and supply chain logistics.
He has extensive experience in commercialization of "dual-use" technologies including revenue generation and growth across fundamental space physics, engineering, and data science domains.
